Arranging an assessment
Contact the outpatient line to arrange an assessment with the skin and injectable service. Ask specifically for an assessment of skin quality, and say if you have a particular area in mind such as the face, the neck, the décolletage or the hands. If you have had any injectable treatment before, tell the booking team, and say when it was.
What to bring
Bring a list of your current medications, including anything bought without a prescription and any supplement, and the name of any condition you are treated for. Declare any previous reaction to an injectable, any history of cold sores in the treatment area, any tendency to form raised scars, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have photographs of your skin from a year or more ago, bring them: change over time is easier to see against a record than against memory.
What the consultation involves
An assessment of the skin itself under standardised light and photographs; a conversation about what the complaint actually is and which layer it sits in; an honest statement of what a course could and could not change for you; and a plan with visit intervals rather than a single appointment. You should leave knowing roughly how many sessions are proposed, over what period, what the downtime looks like, and what the alternative is. If you do not, ask again.
Second opinions
You are entitled to one, and asking for it is not a criticism of anyone. Injectable treatment is offered in a very wide range of settings, and a second assessment at a tertiary hospital will either confirm the plan or explain why it would be done differently. Either answer is useful to you.
Interpreting and international patients
Patients travelling from outside Chongqing, and patients who need interpretation, can arrange both through the hospital’s international patient service. Ask when you book, so that the appointment is scheduled with enough time for a full discussion rather than a short one.
